waiting on baby … traci branscum ~maternity/newborn photographer ~ chesterfield, mo

So this maternity session has been in the planning for several months.  I was honored to be contacted by Joy before she moved here to the St. Louis area and was seeking information about the area and a possible upcoming session.  We communicated via email and instantly clicked.  Talking over the phone was like talking to a friend I have known for years….so sweet and easy to chat with.

So the date was set and ideas were put into a  plan for the session.  I love maternity and the excitement involved with the session.  I love how it shows a love between the couple and the anticipation of their new arrival just weeks away.

Fast forward to this past week…a photographer has a complication.   Yep, I fell and broke my arm.  Merely hours after arriving home from the hospital I knew I had to start reaching out to my some of fabulous photographer friends and ask for help.  I am so glad Amanda from Dreaming Tree Photography was able to save me from my stress.   I called Joy and explained what happened and she was understanding.

So Amanda and I put our minds together and came up with the following session.  I must admit it was so difficult to not be behind the camera but also kind of fun directing someone of what I wanted.  Looking back at it now I think it was a good experience for me to push myself into working angles differently.  Amanda captured wonderful images for me/with me and I am thrilled to share them with Joy and the rest of my blog readers.

Here are a few shots from home…

Of course March weather here in St. Louis is always unpredictable and we ended up with a very cold and kind of dreary day outside but we were able to capture some outdoor photos as well.

fall fun with 2 sisters …. traci branscum ~ family portrait photography ~ fenton, missouri

I had the pleasure of photographing two of my  favorite girls again recently.  These two always make it fun with lots of giggles and smiles.  As they are getting older it amazes me how much they are starting to look more and more alike.   I must say their personalities couldn’t be more different though.

First is Miss Ryann….she is full of sweetness and kindness.   She reminds me of my Brynn in that she is a great big sister!  I love her free spirit and how her smile is contagious.

FUN WITH THE “H” FAMILY ~ TRACI BRANSCUM ~ FAMILY PORTRAIT PHOTOGRAPHER….FENTON, MISSOURI

I had the pleasure of meeting the H family at their home last week for a fun filled photo session.   They have 3 adorable children all close in age to my kiddos so I quickly felt right at home with them.

Miss Anna quickly was all smiles and loved being in front of the camera.   We played a fun game of “show me your _____ face”.   My favorite was her silly one of course.   I must say that  I absolutely adore her beautiful curls also!

Little man Jack was a doll as well.   Working with him sure gave me that baby fever.   Just as sweet as could be and gave me that big baby grin showing his new “teefers” as we call em at our house.

Big brother Bobby is a great kiddo as well.  He is one smart kid who taught me lots about Star Wars.  He has eyes that melt your heart!

I had such a wonderful time meeting them.   Thanks again H family for allowing me the opportunity.

Halloween at The Branscum’s ~ Traci Branscum ~ Family Portrait Photographer … Fenton, Missouri

Halloween has to be one of the cutest fun holidays.  It amazes me how much this holiday has grown into a fun family gathering.  We built our home 2 years ago and this was our first time trick or treating here.  What a great surprise it was.   It was a great chance to meet more of our neighbors and their families.   I have quickly come to realize there are tons of kiddos in our neighborhood which is fabulous for our trio.

The one thing I still haven’t figured out is the “joke” part of it here in St. Louis.  You see in St. Louis each kid is to have a joke to tell at every house.  We have lived in several states and this is the only place where I have seen this done.  Would love to hear from others out there if this is done where you live.  It’s definitely cute hearing all the little ones tell their Halloween jokes however, the Branscum trio wasn’t blessed with joke telling skills….lol  They think everything they say is funny and love to make up jokes.  Blane’s for the evening was “knock knock”…”who is there”…” a tree”…”tree who”…”there is a tree over there”.    Funny right!   Believe me they only got worse.    Brynn however stood by one of her old ones.  “What is a pirate’s favorite restaurant?”  ….”Aaaaaaaarby’s”     The Colbster was able to simple say “Happy Halloweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeen”   They had a blast and loaded up on tons of good stuff.

Costume picking is always a fun part of the Halloween process as well.  The magazines start coming in and the kids will sit on the couch and go thru them with such excitement trying to decide on the perfect one.

Miss Brynnley Kate chose to be a kitty leopard this year.

Blane had the hardest time choosing.  He eventually decided on the mobster/gangster costume.  He really liked the cigar and gun part I am afraid.  He wanted to get into character for the photos.

The easiest costume decision this year was Cobly.  There was no doubt as to who he would be since he is obsessed with Toy Story.  Our very own Buzz Lightyear.

I had the pleasure of capturing some family photos for this reunited family of 6!  Mom had contacted me prior to dad arriving home however I already had a commitment to another family for that particular homecoming.   I was more than happy to arrange a time where we could capture some family photos for them though.

First off huge kudos to this family…..

Dad for serving our country and sacrificing himself for our freedom!

Mom for keeping up with 4 busy little boys while dad was away!

Such a sweet family and how cute are these boys!

Friendship with this family for us goes back several years to when they had only been married for a year and they came to our house for Thanksgiving, brought by our daughter and her husband. We are so delighted to know them and see how their family has grown and life has grown them in their faith as well. Our thanks to this young man and his service to our country. And our love goes out to each family member and we wish we were closer to be able to celebrate together with them one of the best holidays of the year. Our memories are many and pleasant; blessings and love from Ron and Gayle!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
